June is traditionally marked by the Munich Opera Festival and its premieres. This time the focus is on Heute ist Morgen (Today is Tomorrow), a format that offers an attractive platform for contemporary dance positions and young choreographers. The performances in the Prinzregententheater are very popular with the audience and show the broad spectrum of artistic signatures with which ballet is created today. Narrative, abstract, improvised, classical as well as elements from performance art are used and show the direction in which ballet could develop in the future.
In addition, Die Teufel von Loudun by Krzysztof Penderecki celebrates its premiere, staged by Simon Stone. An insider tip five years ago, Stone has since become a hallmark in the world of musical theater. The Basel-born director, who grew up in England and Australia, has quickly earned a reputation for his detailed, realistic operas, which are consistently translated into modern visual and living worlds. See how he brings the piece to the stage in our Teufel.Files.
Around the opera festival, Apollon, das Dossier der Bayerischen Staatsoper, invited guests to the Stufenbar. An oasis with steps, nestled in the ancient setting and it is a lush garden of liquid desires. Plus: sounds and music, DJs and musicians:inside. Every day and some days even become a step night. What more could you want. No one needs to go to the surrounding countryside.
