Maria Baranova


Maria Baranova was born in 1992 in Lohja, Finland, and began dancing at the age of seven at the Helsinki Dance Institut. After nine years of training she participated  at the renowned Prix de Lausanne competition, where John Neumeier saw her and immediately offered her a scholarship. In October 2011 Kenneth Greve offered her a post as principal at the Finnish National Ballet, where she danced until July 2014. From August 2015 till July 2019 is was First Soloist at the Boston Ballet in America. At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, she joines the Bayerische Staatsballett as principal.

  • Winner of the junior female division at the International Ballet Competition in Helsinki, Finland 2009
