Wagner's „Tristan and Isolde“ on Easter holidays

Tristan and Isolde

Tristan and Isolde

The most beautiful of all Wagner operas. Musical high erotic flair: two people, who still have a score to settle with one another, drink a love potion instead of poison. They are caught in flagrante, following which there is longing to the point of love-death. Careful: there's an addiction hazard here even for non-Wagnerians. "Drown – sink down!" Tristan in Munich's Nationaltheater, the site of its world premiere.

On Holy Thursday and Easter Monday we bring Wagner's „Tristan and Isolde“ to the stage. The two main roles are sung by Christiane Libor and Stephen Gould. Both will play these parts for the first time at Bayerische Staatsoper. René Pape will once again impersonate King Marke. Okka von der Damerau makes her role debut as Brangäne.
