LOVED, HATED AND CURTAIN UP
In 2018, the Bavarian State Opera celebrates a double anniversary. The National Theater, which houses our stage, turns 200 years old. And the Bayerische Staatsoper celebrates the 100th anniversary when it passed from the king into the hands of the people. Since then, the Bayerische Staatsoper has been a topic for regular discussion, rejection, approval, but hopefully never indifference. She is loved and hated. All this and the double jubilee will be celebrated under the title LOVED, HATED AND CURTAIN UP.
21 September - 3 October 2018
The program of the festival week begins with the 1st Academy concert and a world premiere under the musical direction of Constantinos Carydis, who most recently conducted the new production of Le nozze di Figaro at our house. On 21 September, he will premiere Hans Abrahamsen's Three Fairy Tale Paintings from the Snow Queen with the Bayerisches Staatsorchester. Also on the program are Richard Strauss' Horn Concerto No. 2 in E flat major and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A major op. 92. All tickets for the Academy Concert on 21 September were raffled. For two other dates, however, you have the opportunity to purchase tickets.
Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg will also be on the program of the festival week, under the direction of General Music Director Kirill Petrenko and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber will be performing a song matinee. The festival concludes with two performances of Anna Karenina by the Bavarian State Ballet
