The Bayerische Staatsoper congrats Zubin Mehta on his 85th birthday

This exceptional conductor of our time has been on the podium of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester over 400 times, the first time being in an Academy concert in 1975.
From 1998 to 2006 he influenced musical life in Munich as General Music Director of theBayerische Staatsoper. In his last year in that position, he was made an honorary member; his bronze bust stands in the National Theatre, in the rank foyer on the left. In 2011 he became the first classical musician to receive his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
We are grateful that Zubin Mehta remained closely associated with the Bayerische Staatsoper even after his time as General Music Director. He conducted new productions such as Turandot in 2011, Un ballo in maschera in 2016 and returned to the podium of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester again and again with Academy Concerts, as most recently in January 2021.
The next time Zubin Mehta will be a guest at the Bayerisches Staatsoper will be in June 2021 with a concert version of Aida.
We are very much looking forward to it and wish him all the best until then!
