The Festival Studio Premieres of 2020

Contemporary musical theatre and more: In our festival programme we are always on the lookout for something new and unusual. The setting for this is our Festival Studio, which this year once again takes place at Reithalle. Our Festival Studio will celebrate the premiere of four pieces, including one world premiere.

Once again this season, together with BMW Munich, we invite you to two open-air opera experiences.

OPER FÜR ALLE: Festspielkonzert

Our open-air concert on 18 July 2020 will be conducted by Andrea Battistoni. On the programme are Peter I. Tschaikowsky's Violin Concerto D Major op. 35 as well as Sergej W. Rachmaninoff's Symphony Nr. 2 e minor op. 27. The evening will begin with the Youth Orchestra of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester, ATTACCA.

OPER FÜR ALLE with Kirill Petrenko: DIE TOTE STADT

On 19 Juli 2020 we will broadcast Erich Wolfgang Korngolds Die tote Stadt live from the Nationaltheater onto Max-Joseph-Platz. In the new production staged by Simon Stone Jonas Kaufmann and Marlis Petersen take on the main parts.

How to buy festival tickets

Ticket requests for Munich Opera Festival 2020 can already be made. All orders will be processed from 1 February 2020. The first day of sales for the Munich Opera Festival 2020 will be 18 January 2020 from 10.00 to 19.00 at the box office at Marstallplatz 5. On this day, a contingent of tickets in categories V to VIII as well as a contingent of all categories for all remaining performances including the Festspiel Studio performances will be sold for opera and ballet performances, recitals at the National Theatre.
