streaming programme during season holidays
In line with the current Covid regulations, the Bayerisches Staatsballett will cancel all performances up until and including 31st January 2021. There will be a free streaming programme including Swan Lake on December 24-26, 2020 and the premiere of the modern triple bill Paradigma on January 4 , 2021.

Performance cancellation
Unfortunately, the Bayerisches Staatsballett’s performances of Swan Lake on 27 and 30 October 2020 will not take place as scheduled, as some members of the production have tested positive for Covid-19. Training and rehearsals will cease until further notice for the entire company for safety and protection reasons.

The Bayerisches Staatsballett starts into the 2020-21 season on 9 September 2020 with a modified version of Ray Barra’s Swan Lake, presenting, after a six-month break, the first narrative ballet. Another classic follows just ten days later on 19 September 2020 with an adapted performance of. Due to the pandemic, the planned dance night to commence the “30 years of the Bayerisches Staatsballett” anniversary celebrations will be moved to the second half of the season.

Season end / Look forward to the 2020-21 season
Following an extremely unusual 2019-20 season, the Bayerisches Staatsballett bids adieu at the end of June to begin an earlier than usual summer break. After 19 years, principal Ivy Amista will now finish her active career as a dancer. The 2020-21 season will open on 9 September 2020 with the revival of Ray Barra’s Swan Lake.

Statement on the current situation as of 1 April 2020
On Tuesday, 31.3.2020, the studios of the Bavarian State Ballet were inspected by the police in order to check the voluntary daily class. Afterwards, the company was informed that all official measures have been followed accordingly.

Ballet Director Igor Zelensky confirmed in office until 2026
Today, Tuesday 10 September, Ballet Director Igor Zelensky signed an extension of his contract until summer 2026 in the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts. He will therefore remain at the head of the Bayerisches Staatsballett for a further five years.
