Dance Night: 30 Years of Bayerisches Staatsballett
With the Dance Night we invite you to join us in the celebrations of our anniversary season 2020 / 2021! In September 1990 the Ballett der Bayerischen Staatsoper officially became the Bayerisches Staatsballett. Director Konstanze Vernon (1939 - 2013) transformed the ensemble into an autonomous and artistically independent company. Unfortunately, the Dance Night cannot take place on 19.09.2020. Plannings for a new date in spring 2021 are currently ongoing.
Iris van Wijnen studied voice at the Utrechts Conservatorium with Nathalie Doucet, Peter Nilsson, and Ira Siff.
She participated in various masterclasses with Kiri Te Kanawa, Siegfried Jerusalem, Leontina Văduva, and Rudolf Jansen. In 2014, she won three prizes at the International Vocal Competition's-Hertogenbosch. She performed at the Nederlandse Reisopera in Enschede and at the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam. Her repertoire includes Susanna (Il segreto di Susanna), Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Bess (Porgy and Bess) as well as First Fairy, First Woman and Soprano (The Fairy Queen). On the concert stage she has appeared together with the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble in Amsterdam. Since the 2015/16 season Iris van Wijnen is a member of the Bayerische Staatsoper's Opera Studio.
