Recitals in the season 2022 – 23

For many decades, the Bayerische Staatsoper has been in the habit of inviting singers to lieder recitals. Most of the artists who embody operatic roles at the Nationaltheater in Munich are also at home in art song – the most concentrated form in which the human voice expresses itself musically. In the coming season a number of the most distinguished performers in this field will be guests at the Bayerische Staatsoper during the festival season. Some for the first time, and others as welcome returners. They include (each with their long-time piano partners), Anja Harteros and Wolfram Rieger, Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber, and Jonas Kaufmann and Helmut Deutsch. French tenor Benjamin Bernheim performs for the first time as a lieder singer at the Nationaltheater, and in the Cuvilliés-Theater, ensemble member Konstantin Krimmel will perform Schubert's Schwanengesang with Malcom Martineau. The Opera Studio’s portrait concerts, in which the young members present themselves with a variety of programs, also enrich the lieder offering at the BSO.
