Even though the new Infection Protection Measures Ordinance provides for some relaxations for admission to events, we have decided not to make any changes for the time being. Masks are still mandatory throughout the house and 3Gs (vaccinated, tested - antigen or PCR test, recovered) are checked at the entrance.

It is important to us that you continue to feel safe at the Bavarian State Opera. Whether we introduce 3G Plus (vaccinated, tested - PCR test, recovered), we would like to decide together with you and ask for your opinion on the issues within the next week. A decision on changes to the hygiene measures in the house will be made no later than October 22, 2021. The measures will be implemented no earlier than November 9, 2021.

We are delighted to welcome you to a performance of the Bayerische Staatsoper.
Health protection for our audience as well as for our employees is still our top priority. In order to enjoy your visit as safely as possible, we kindly ask you to observe the following instructions.

Attending a performance is only possible for individuals who do not have COVID symptoms and
•    are able to demonstrate the protection of a full COVID-19 vaccination OR
•    are able to provide a negative COVID-19 test result (rapid antigen test, maximum 24 hours old or a PCR test, maximum 48 hours old) OR
•    can proof natural immunity shown by a positive PCR test result for Covid-19, which is at least 28 days old and not older than six months

Please bring one of the above proofs and an ID card to your audition visit.

Children under the age of six and children not yet enrolled in school are exempt from the above rules.

Special arrangements for children:

  • A student ID or comparable document proving school status is sufficient.

There are several test centres in the vicinity of the National Theatre and the Prinzregententheater, where you can take a rapid antigen test before the performance. You can find an up-to-date list of test centres in the area at www.muenchen.de.

Please wear a mask at all times, also during the performance.
It is compulsory to wear a medical mask ("surgical mask") or a FFP2 mask. Children under the age of six and visitors who carry an appropriate certification from a doctor do not have to wear a mask. Further exceptions, for example on the basis of medical certificates, are not permitted

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Bavarian State Opera has been subject to a strict hygiene concept, which was developed in cooperation with physicians from the University Hospital Rechts der Isar and scientists from the Technical University of Munich and is continuously adapted to current requirements.
It goes without saying that we will continue to implement all the necessary hygiene regulations. In addition, we monitor developments on a daily basis and will keep you informed of any changes regarding your screening visit.
In this context, please also note our additions to the Bavarian State Theaters' Conditions of Use due to the current situation (SARS-CoV-2).

Admission to each event at the National Theatre begins 60 minutes before the performance. Please use all entrances to avoid long waiting times and crowds, and allow enough time for admission and the necessary 3G check. You may enter the theatre via the Freunde Foyer (Alfons-Goppel-Straße), the main portal, the entrance on Maximilianstraße and the passage to the underground car park. Admission to performances at the Prinzregententheater and Cuvilliés-Theater starts one hour before the performance. You can access both the Prinzregententheater and the Cuvilliés-Theater through the main entrance.

Please note that ticket buyers are obliged to be able to name each visitor to the event at all times and to provide their contact details (name, address and telephone number or email address) on request. If you have bought tickets for other people, please forward these guidelines accordingly.

Please sit only in your assigned seat. You will find the seat number on your ticket. For all September performances, we will use a special version of the seating plan: Single seats that have already been sold will remain valid, but we will not sell the seats in between. The formerly closed rows in between will now be sold fully. From October 2021, we will  sell all seats in our venues.

Due to new regulations and protective measures, minimum spacing is no longer required between audience members when seated. However, please keep sufficient distance from other visitors at the entrance and in the auditorium at all times.

Our theatre gastronomy is open: RHEINGOLD in the stalls on the right and two other bars in the upper area. food and drinks however only is allowed in designated and separate bar areas – not in the entire house. Due to new hygiene protection regulations, we cannot permit our guests to consume alcoholic drinks in the theatre – including the designated bar areas. We kindly ask you to reserve a table in advance via our theatre catering service. Our LUDWIG ZWEI restaurant however happily welcomes you on the ground floor. Within the restaurant there are no gastronomic restrictions. However to access our LUDWIG ZWEI  restaurant you will be required to pass a 3G Plus control (vaccinated, recovered, tested – with only an PCR-test being valid).

Please come to us in good health. Should you experience cold or flu symptoms we have to ask you with a heavy heart to stay at home. Persons with COVID-19-associated symptoms are not allowed to attend the event. If you have had contact with a person with COVID-19 in the last two weeks, are under quarantine or have been diagnosed with the virus yourself, you will also not be able to attend. You are welcome to use our ticket exchange forum (kartenboerse.staatsoper.de) if you would like to sell your ticket.
Please abide by the common hygiene rules, in order to make this a pleasant experience for everyone. Thank you for being a role model, others will follow suit. Our front-of-house team will open the doors for you – so you can get to your seat without having to use the door handles.

We ask our guests to leave their coats, jackets and bulkier bags at our cloakrooms. For our visitors with tickets in the stalls, we have set up… This can be reached via the Maximilianstraße or via the LUDWIG II restaurant (only with 3GPlus control).

If your seat is in the centre of a row, please move past other audience members "back-to-back". We also kindly ask you to not fan, in order to minimise the spread of aerosols.

Enjoy your visit! We are happy to receive visitors again and look forward to having you.
Let’s spend a relaxing and inspiring evening together!
