We are back – with strolls through the Nationaltheater

We are very pleased to invite you to a chamber music series: Wednesday Strolls. With this new series of events, we are taking the reopening of museums and churches as a model: from 27 May 2020, a maximum of 20 spectators per stroll can experience selected chamber music by musicians of the Bayerische Staatsorchester once a week at unusual locations of the National Theatre. “With this programme we want to make the best of the current situation, and invite our audiences to spaces which during regular operations wouldn’t be accessible, let alone somewhere we might perform,” says General Manager Nikolaus Bachler.

Hygiene Guidelines for your Safety

Extensive hygiene guidelines were drawn up for this series of events by the Bayerische Staatsoper's hygiene committee. We have summarised the essential principles for the public area in the following:

  1. You will be fully informed in advance
Our audience will be informed individually and comprehensively about the hygiene principles with a visit guide before the performance. It is therefore necessary that the cards can only be purchased personalised and with contact details for tracing possible chains of infection. It is not possible to pass the cards on to third parties. Upon admission, the personal data will be checked accordingly.
  2.  Health comes first
For all those involved, health is a priority. If you feel ill, you cannot participate in the event. Disinfectant dispensers are clearly visible in the event areas, access to the seating area is possible without a handle. The entire performance is closely monitored by the house hygiene committee from preparation to execution.
  3. Please keep your distance and wear a mask
During the whole event we ensure a minimum distance of 2 meters. The distance to the instrumentalists is at least 5 metres - considerably more than current studies demand. Requirements for the ventilation of the venue are also exceeded. We ask every visitor to wear a mouth-nose protection at all times. If it is not possible for you to wear a mouth-nose-cover due to a disability or for health reasons, you can remove it at your seat. Please contact our staff at the entrance in advance.
  4. The visit will be a completely new experience
Unfortunately, we have to do without some of the usual offers such as theatre catering, but instead you will experience completely new perspectives on the house during the Wednesday Strolls. Also the visit with mask and minimum distance will be new for you - but we ask you to get involved. You will find the programme on your seat free of charge. You can take your wardrobe with you to your seat, but please avoid large bags and backpacks.
  5. We take care of you
Our entrance team will support you from the meeting point at the box office to the square (and back) during your visit. The team has been extensively trained for this event and has completed several test runs. If you have any questions in advance, you can contact the Besucherkommunikation at any time.
