Season 2021/22 Subscriptions
After a turbulent 2020/21 season, we look to the future with optimism. After we had to suspend subscriptions for the 2020/21 season due to the Corona pandemic, we continue to closely observe developments and assume that we will be able to welcome you regularly to our venues again as usual for the new season. Exactly when this will be, however, depends on the possible full capacity of the Nationaltheater.
If you already had a subscription in the 2019/20 season, we can reassure you because everything will remain as usual. Due to the later season announcement and the associated shortened deadlines, as well as the currently still uncertain situation, it is not yet possible to reallocate subscriptions. We hope that by the start of the season it will be possible to plan more effectively.
Cancellation of all subscriptions for the 2020/21 season
All subscriptions in the 2020/21 season are cancelled. Your seats will of course continue to be reserved for you - also for the 2021-22 season. As compensation, we have extended the permanent subscription discount of 20% for all performances until the regular season (excluding the Festival). You will receive this discount on up to two tickets per production and subscription customer number. In addition, when processing orders (ticket contingent 1), the first 20 tickets per production of the regular season will continue to be allocated to subscribers.
Unfortunately, gift subscriptions must also be cancelled this season. All orders for gift subscriptions have automatically been cancelled.

With the Bayerische Staatsoper Subscriptions Series you visit opera, ballet and concert performances regularly, while also benefiting from the attractive subscription price with a discount of up to 35% per ticket. In addition to various Opera Subscriptions, the Staatsoper also offers a Ballet Subscription, a Concert Subscription, an under-30s Youth Subscription, as well as several Season Subscriptions. The subscription performances are spread across the entire season and are not restricted to weekdays alone.
Further benefits for subscribers: The Subscription ID allows the holder to travel free with all MVV transport options from 3 pm (i.e. three hours before the performance begins) until 6 am on the following day. The monthly programmes are sent to you free of charge. Subscribers also receive a discount of 20% (beginning with season 2019/20) on further tickets for all Bayerische Staatsoper events beginning 14 days before a performance, subject to availability.

Cancel, but don’t lose!
One performance per season can be re-booked in each Opera and Ballet Subscription. You can do this from 1 September until one week before the performance date at the latest, online, by phone, at the desk or in writing (see Subscription terms). With a re-booking you receive a virtual voucher, which is saved under your customer number. You can redeem or charge this when buying a regular ticket until the end of the respective season.
Validity and payment
An existing subscription is extended automatically for the next season if it is not cancelled by 15 April of the current season (exception: Youth Subscription). Changes to the subscription terms are announced in good time. A subscription can be paid for in one amount in advance or in two instalments.
The Subscription ID applies as the ticket for the performance dates given on it. Start times are posted in the monthly programmes and on www.staatsoper.de. It is recommended you report loss of the ID to the Staatsoper’s subscription office immediately; a replacement ID can be issued for €5. A charge of €2 is levied for printing replacement tickets at the box office.
