World Ballet Day 2021

On Tuesday, 19 October 2021 World Ballet Day took place again – a yearly event all around the globe via (live) streams with exclusive insights into the daily work of international top companies. Bayerisches Staatsballett is participating for the third time and shows unique scenes and rehearsal moments from the Nationaltheater studio. The three-hour-stream is still available to rewatch on our YouTube channel.  The program includes the daily class with Leading Ballet Master Thomas Mayr and - as a sneak peek of the premiere on 19 November 2021 - two rehearsals of Christopher Wheeldon's Cinderella.  Jason Fowler, Wheeldon's close collaborator, will lead a pas de deux rehearsal with Cinderella and the Prince in the ballroom scene from Act two. Stager Jonathan Howells rehearses the final scene of Act one with the "four fates" with six male ensemble members.

Since 2014, World Ballet Day has been organised and conceived by the Royal Ballet London, the Bolshoi Ballet and the Australian Ballet - as a tribute to the art of dance and the dedication of all ballet dancers who share their ballet studios across continents and time zones.

More information and the complete programme can be found on the official World Ballet Day website
