A SPACE FOR EVERYONE:
EVERY FRIDAY FROM 11 AM TO 5 PM

Between art and everyday life: On Fridays, the doors of the front building of the Bayerische Staatsoper are open. With the Apollon Foyers, a lively “third place” is emerging in the heart of Munich—a space beyond home and work that invites visitors to linger, discover, and connect. In the historic state rooms of the Nationaltheater, visitors can simply drop in without having to pursue a specific goal. Admission is free, no registration is required, and there is no set program.

WHAT WE OFFER

Various areas invite you to read, listen, and watch—or simply to be there. Flexible furniture creates a variety of settings, from quiet retreats to small conversation circles. A headphone station offers musical insights into the world of opera, ballet, and beyond. Current magazines and a variety of books are available in the reading area. Selected costume pieces offer sensory experiences and a playful introduction to the world of theater. A welcome team is on hand to answer questions and engage in conversation; conversations often arise here quite naturally. In addition the theater catering Käfer at the RHEINGOLD bar-bistro offers coffee, drinks, and snacks.

APOLLON PLAYBACK SHOW

A special highlight takes place on select Fridays at 3 pm in the Königssaal: At the Apollon Playback Show, hosted by Sandro Capasso (“Der Münchner”), participants can step into the shoes of their musical idols. After walking through the glitter curtain, songs are performed in lip-sync—solo or in a group. Registration at: [email protected]

The Apollon Foyers are supported by the Beisheim Foundation, in collaboration with the Third Places at the Haus der Kunst, the Schauburg LAB, and the Flux at the Pinakothek der Moderne.
