Buying tickets at the Bayerische Staatsoper
AT ANY TIME FROM THE PUBLICATION OF THE MATCH SCHEDULE
You can easily place binding written orders now using the online form via the performance schedule.
Three months before the respective performance date, all orders are processed and half of all available tickets are allocated. If demand exceeds the available ticket contingent, tickets will be allocated at random. If we are unable to fulfill your ticket request, we will notify you in writing. Orders can only be canceled as long as processing has not yet begun.
TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE
Two months before the respective performance, online, telephone and counter sales of the second half of all available tickets of equal quality begin at 10 am. If the date falls on a Sunday or public holiday, sales begin on the working day before. Here you can select your seats in the seating plan yourself and either have the tickets sent to you or print them out at home as Ticketdirect or show them as a QR code on your smartphone.
PROCESSING FEE
A fee of €2 per card is charged for written orders and card purchases by telephone and online.

The box office, the subscription office and the call center will be closed from Fri, 01.08.25 to Sun, 31.08.25. Written orders will continue to be processed. Online purchases for performances in October are also still possible.
Exceptions to advance booking deadlines
ADVANCE TICKET SALES FOR OCTOBER
The processing of written orders begins on Thu, 26.06.25. Online, telephone and box office sales for these performances start on Sat, 26.07.25.
BALLET FESTIVAL WEEK 2026
Written orders will be processed from Sun, 28.12.25. Online, telephone and box office sales for the entire Ballet Festival week begin on Wed, 28.01.26.
MUNICH OPERA FESTIVAL 2026
Orders for the Munich Opera Festival (via online form) are already possible. Processing will begin on Sun, 1.2.26 and is expected to be completed by mid-March 2026. You will immediately receive a confirmation of receipt of your order and can check all the data again. In the customer details of the online form, you can also indicate whether you are a member of the Freunde des Nationaltheaters e. V., a sponsor of the Munich Opera Festival or whether you have a subscription or an Opera Plus card. Please only send us your order once. So that we can process your order even if your preferred price category is sold out, we recommend that you specify alternatives or a price limit. All orders received by Sun, 1.2.26 will be given equal priority. If demand exceeds the available ticket contingent, the decision will be made by drawing lots. Please note that wheelchair places will only be processed via written requests. Online, telephone and counter sales of all remaining tickets will begin on Fri, 27.03.26. The date of the traditional first sale and the issue of waiting numbers will be announced in the Festival brochure.

SUBSEQUENT REDUCTION
It is not possible to subsequently reduce tickets that have already been paid for.
TICKET RESTRICTIONS
Please note that in the event of above-average demand, the number of tickets may be limited to two per customer number.
TICKET RETURNS
Paid tickets cannot be returned or exchanged. If you are unable to attend the performance or are looking for a ticket at short notice, please use our ticket exchange at https://kartenboerse.staatsoper.de/.
Changes to the cast and other changes to the schedule of a performance do not entitle the ticket holder to return tickets. The organizer is not responsible for travel to and from the event. External influences such as rail strikes or extreme weather conditions do not entitle the holder to return tickets.
We recommend that you only purchase tickets from the Central Ticket Office of the Bayerische Staatstheater. Other platforms do not work together with the Bayerische Staatstheater, therefore the validity of these tickets cannot be guaranteed by the Bayerische Staatstheater. There are no external ticket agencies.
REFUND OF CORONA VOUCHERS
Virtual vouchers were issued for many tickets that had to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. These could be redeemed or returned for payment until the end of December 2023.
