Young ensembles at the Bayerische Staatsoper
YOUNG TALENT AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES
The Bayerisches Staatsorchester, the Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Bayerische Staatsoper each have their own young talent and development programmes, which provide talented performers with the start of a stage career. Our programmes combine stage practice with educationally coaching session.

FURTHER YOUNG ENSEMBLES
THE ATTACCA YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The ATTACCA Youth Orchestra is an orchestra for young people organised by the “Akademie des Bayerischen Staatsorchester e. V.” and is open to all children and young people interested in music who are aged between 12 and 18. The core element of the work is fun with classical music and the joy of developing selected orchestral literature together.
The ATTACCA Orchestra’s many appearances are prepared in regular movement and tutti rehearsals. Movement rehearsals are supervised by members of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester. Allan Bergius, who along with his work as a stand-in solo cellist, is also a trained professional conductor, is responsible for all tutti rehearsals.
Along with rehearsals and concerts in the opera, the focus lies on the artistic and human exchange with other youth projects and on seminars on topics such as work analysis, organology, the piece’s genesis and composer biographies. The young ATTACCA musicians consequently enjoy in-depth insights into the world of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester.

Are you interested in joining ATTACCA?
Feel free to apply if you meet the following criteria:
● You are between 12 and 18 years old and have been learning an orchestral instrument (wind, strings, percussion, harp) in regular lessons for several years.
● You are prepared to work seriously on your orchestra part.
● You send us your application via the application form for ATTACCA.
● You are prepared to demonstrate your ability in an audition in front of Bayerisches Staatsorchester musicians. The audition may include one or more freely selected pieces. They should demonstrate your current technical and musical skills on the instrument as well as possible.
● You are able to participate in the regular rehearsals in the National Theatre in Munich, which are usually on Saturday from 2 pm to 6 pm.
We accept applications on a rolling basis, as the work is project-related. Once you've applied, you will be considered for one of the next auditions.

THE BAYERISCHE STAATSOPER CHILDREN’S CHOIR
How would you like to be standing on stage with famous singers? To wear a tailored costume and be made up by real make-up artists? To be in a real opera production instead of just hearing about them? The Bayerische Staatsoper’s children's choir offers all this to interested children aged 8 to 11.

Are you interested in becoming a member of the children's choir?
Feel free to apply if you meet the following criteria:
● You are between 8 and 11 years old.
● You love singing, are extremely punctual and reliable.
● You are flexible and able to take part in the regular choir rehearsals at the National Theatre in Munich. These happen at least once a week; the number and times of rehearsals depend, however, on the musical requirements and the stage rehearsals in the run-up to a new production.
● You should send your application with your age and address to [email protected].
● You are prepared to demonstrate your ability in an audition in front of our choirmaster Christoph Heil.
Once you've registered, you will receive more information on activities and requirements, as well as a registration form for an audition, which is usually held in February or March.

BAYERISCHE STAATSOPER CHILD EXTRAS
It's many children’s dream to stand on the stage of the National Theatre alongside famous singers and be part of an opera production, such as The Magic Flute. The Bayerische Staatsoper’s child extras department offers interested children aged six and older the opportunity to do just this.

Are you interested in being a child extra?
Feel free to apply if you meet the following criteria:
● You are older than six years.
● You want to fulfil your dream of standing on the stage of the Bayerische Staatsoper.
● You are extremely punctual and reliable. Your parents are prepared to invest time and to drop you off and pick you up again for rehearsals that happen at irregular intervals and sometimes last several hours.
● You send your application with your name and age and a natural full body and portrait photo with your measurements by e-mail to [email protected]
