Ballet Festival Week 2025
10 – 16 April 2025
The Ballet Festival Week 2025 will take place in April as usual, but follows a different concept this season: Instead of a repertoire overview featuring highlights of the season, the ensemble will present the three-part series Wings of Memory over six days in a unique performance series, featuring works by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jiří Kylián, and Pina Bausch.
At the heart of the event is Bausch's groundbreaking interpretation of Igor Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps. Premiered at the Wuppertal Opera House in 1975, the 35-minute piece stands today as one of the signature works of the late dance theater legend, who passed away in 2009. Also featured in this three-part series are Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's version of Faun set to Claude Debussy's instrumental piece Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, as well as Jiří Kylián's Bella Figura.
This series will be complemented by a guest performance from the Lucia Lacarra Ballet, where the former Principal Dancer of the Bayerisches Staatsballett returns to her former workplace with her program Lost Letters.
