Mallika Aithala

trainee

Mallika were born in Tokyo and are a dual citizen of both Japan and Australia. They began their dance training at the Matsuyama Ballet School in Japan before moving to Australia to study at Dance 102 Performing Arts under Amanda Clerke and being privately coached by Elle Julia Régi. From 2015-2017 Mallika were part of The Australian Ballet School’s Interstate Programme. In 2019 Mallika moved to Amsterdam to study at the Dutch National Ballet Academy and in 2020 to the State Ballet School in Berlin where they completed their professional dance training. They were a finalist at the Asian Grand Prix Hong Kong in 2018, a finalist at the Isobel Anderson Awards in 2019, winner of the Most Promising Girl Tessa Maunder Encouragement Award at the Sydney Eisteddfod in 2018. They have performed onstage with The Australian Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet and received scholarships to numerous summer schools including Asian Grand Prix Ballet Intensive, Queensland Ballet Academy, Bolshoi Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School White Lodge. Since the beginning of the 2023/24 season, Mallika are a member of Bayerisches Junior Ballett München as a trainee of Bayerisches Staatsballett.
