Carolina Armenta
Carolina is a Spanish dancer, rehearsal director, and educator. She graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Dance in Madrid with a Higher Degree in Dance, specializing in Choreography and Interpretation Techniques. Her professional career took off in 1989 when she joined Netherlands Dans Theatre (NDT) under the direction of Jiří Kylián, where she performed until 2003. Following her time at NDT, she danced with Cullberg Ballet from 2003 to 2008. Throughout her career as a performer, Armenta performed soloist roles in ballets of choreographers like Jíri Kylián, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Mats Ek, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Crystal Pite, Stijn Celis, Nacho Duato, among others. In 2008, after retiring from the stage, Carolina transitioned into a new role as a rehearsal director and assistant to choreographer Johan Inger staging his works for renowned companies and institutions across Europe and beyond. From 2010 to 2020, she was also a faculty member at the Centro Andaluz de Danza in Seville. Currently, Carolina Armenta Camacho is the co-director of Take Off Dance, an advanced training center based in Seville, which she leads alongside Johan Inger. The program offers dancers intensive experience with the works of leading contemporary choreographers. Carolina emphasizes not only technical precision but also artistic authenticity and stage presence. Her work continues to shape aspiring dancers into adaptable, expressive, and well-rounded artists prepared to meet the demands of today’s professional dance world.
