Ekaterina Borchenko, born in Leningrad, trained at the famous Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, St. Petersburg. From 2000 to 2003 she danced as a Principal with the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre. In 2003 she joined the company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belorussia, Minsk.
Since 2008 she dances as a principal with the Mikhailovsky Ballet St. Petersburg.
Her repertory includes classical roles like Odette/Odlie (Swan Lake), Giselle, Masha (The Nutcracker), Kitri (Don Quixote), Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Esmeralda and Sylphide as well as modern parts in the contemporary works of Nacho Duato, Nuna Dimittis, Without Words or Prelude.
In the 2011/2012 season she will dance for the first time in Munich as Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty.
