Burke Brown
Burke Brown is a New York-based lighting, projection and scenic designer. Recent New York City theater designs include Stay and Basilca with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and Phoebe in Winter with Clubbed Thumb.
Other NYC work includes designs for the 52nd Street Project, Ars Nova, NYSF-Public Theater, La Mama ETC, Under The Radar Festival, Playwright's Realm, and the Baryshnikov Arts Center. Recent Regional Designs include Se Llama Cristina with Magic Theatre, San Francisco and It's a Wonderful Life with Playmaker's Rep, Chapel Hill. His international work includes productions at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, the Golden Mask Festival in Moscow, the Seoul Performing Arts Festival in South Korea, the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy and with Opera Erratica in Toronto.
Recent dance designs include projects with Aszure Barton & Artists, Alvin Ailey America Dance Theater, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, St. Louis Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, and Houston Ballet. Opera designs include Dido & Aeneas with Opera Erratica, The Fairy Queen (projection design) with Big Apple Baroque, and Giasone (projection design and Orfeo with Yale Baroque Opera Project. Mr. Brown has a Bachelors of Arts in International Studies and Theater Studies from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC.
He received his Masters of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama and is a member of Wingspace Theatrical Design. Originally from North Carolina, Burke Brown has lived in Beijing, Miami, and New Haven, and now lives in Brooklyn, NY.
