Chi Cao

Born in China, Chi Cao trained at the Beijing Dance Academy and the Royal Ballet School. He joined BRB in 1995 and was promoted to Principal in 2002. Chi is a virtuoso classical dancer, as demonstrated by his performances of the Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, The Prince in The Nutcracker, Franz in Coppélia, Siegfried in Swan Lake, and, most recently, in the roles he created in The Seasons and Concert Fantasy. He has represented the Company at a number of prestigious occasions, dancing the pas de deux from Le Corsaire at a NATO gala in Birmingham (2000) and Tchaikovsky pas de deux at Birmingham's gala to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's golden jubilee (2002). He won the Gold Medal at the 1998 Varna Ballet Competition.
