Johann Darchinger
Johann Darchinger (born on May 16, 1938, died on August 19, 2003) was engaged as lighting technician at the Bavarian State Opera immediately after completing his training as electrician at the age of seventeen. Her remained a member of the Bavarian State Opera to his retirement in 2003. In 1967 he got his mastercraftsman’s diploma. Due to his creative abilities he had been called upon as light designer even before. As partner of countless famous directors and stage designers he was responsible fot the light design for far more than eighty operas and ballets in the National Theatre, the Prinzregenten Theatre and the Cuvilliés Theatre.
For the Bavarian State Ballet he created the light design for numerous productions, among them Chamber Symphony by Lucinda Childs (1994), Davide Bombana’s Woyzeck Fragments (1995), the Luigi-Nono-Project (1996) and Schönberg, op. 4 (1998), Shannon Rose by Youri Vamos (1996) and The Threatened Murderer by Claus Guth (1994).
