Fabian Johannes Egger
Fabian Johannes Egger was born in Traunstein, Bavaria. At the age of ten, he was accepted onto the gifted programme at the Leopold Mozart Institute of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In 2020, he started studying with Andrea Lieberknecht at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, where he began his Bachelor's degree in 2023.
Fabian has won numerous national and international competitions. At “Jugend musiziert”, he won first prize at the national level four times with the highest score, both as a soloist and in various ensembles. His other awards include first prize, the audience prize and the prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work (his own composition) at the International Aeolus Competition; third place at Eurovision Young Musician; the VP Bank Opus Award, in recognition of his artistic personality; and first prize (jointly awarded) at the 11th International Flute Competition in Kobe, one of the world's largest flute competitions.
The American flute magazine Flute Almanac awarded him the title “Emerging Artist of the Year 2025”. In February 2026, he was awarded the Fanny Mendelssohn Prize for his project Life is not enough — the longing for the unattainable, which will enable him to produce a debut CD. He gained his first orchestral experience with the vbw Festival Orchestra, the German National Youth Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Young Orchestra.
Since May 2026 he has been part of the Hermann-Levi-Academy of the Beyerischen Staatsorchesters.
