Martin Fuchs

Martin Fuchs is principal bass clarinettist with the Bayerischen Staatsorchester. He also performs as a passionate chamber musician at festivals such as the Heidelberger Frühling and as a soloist, for example with the clarinet concertos by Weber and Mozart with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra and the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock. He has been teaching clarinet and bass clarinet at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen since 2024.
He has won prizes and scholarships at numerous national and international competitions such as the German Music Competition, the Vienna International Music Competition, the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and the Silverstein International Clarinet Competition. He also received a scholarship from the Villa Musica and was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
He began his training with Rudolf Mauz and was accepted as a junior student in Prof. Wolfgang Meyer's class at the age of 11. He then studied with Prof. Reiner Wehle and Prof. Sabine Meyer and passed his concert exam in the soloist class of Prof. Nicola Jürgensen with distinction.
During his studies, he was already a member of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and won auditions for the Orchestra Academy of the Bayerischen Rundfunkorchester and as solo bass clarinettist at the Bayerische Staatsoper in 2021. (updated 2024)
