David Hofbauer
David Hofbauer was born in Innsbruck but has lived in Lower Austria since the age of four. He began learning to play the Styrian harmonica at the regional music school in Leobendorf/Bisamberg/Enzersfeld at the age of six. He began taking organ lessons at the age of eight, piano lessons at ten, and finally took up the tuba at thirteen. He began studying bass tuba in a preparatory course in 2020, and has been studying it as a concert major with Prof. Michael Pircher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 2023. From 2021 to 2025, he was also enrolled in the preparatory course and completed two semesters of concert studies in church organ at the MDW. He has won multiple first prizes in the Austrian young musicians' competition, "Prima la Musica", on both the tuba and the organ. He has gained orchestral experience with the Lower Austria Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Brandenburg Youth Philharmonic, the Baden Stage Orchestra, the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera Stage Orchestra and the Lower Austria Tonkünstler Orchestra.
