Paul Kieve
English stage illusionist Paul Kieve made his Royal Opera debut in 2007 as illusionist on L’Heure Espagnole, directed by Richard Jones, and has since returned as magic consultant for Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for The Royal Ballet.
His theatre credits include Matilda The Musical (West End, Broadway, US and Australia tours), Ghost the Musical (Drama Desk Award for Broadway production), Pippin (Broadway) , Side Show, The Invisible Man, The Witches, Our House, Scrooge, The Lord of the Rings, Zorro, Theatre of Blood (National Theatre) and Finding Neverland (Broadway). Ballet and opera credits include Alice in Wonderland (English National Ballet including current revival with Pittsburgh Ballet), Aladdin (Scottish Ballet), Das Rheingold (Strasbourg), Macbeth (Hamburg), Ruddigore and Love Life (Opera North) and The Elixir of Love (English National Opera). Film credits include Hugo and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Current projects include the Broadway musical Groundhog Day and ‘Mickey and The Magician’ a permanent magic show in Disneyland Paris.Kieve has worked as a consultant to magicians including Penn and Teller, David Copperfield, and David Blaine, and worked closely with Kate Bush on her live show Before the Dawn. His 1997 book ‘Hokus Pokus’ was published in 11 languages including Berlin Verlag (Bloomsbury) . He was the recipient of the 2013 Magic Castle, Hollywood Creative Fellowship, the 2006 British Magical Society Award for Outstanding Contribution to Magic and is a Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle.
