Yonghwan Kim
Yonghwan Kim was born in Yesan, South Korea, and has been playing the horn since his youth. He began his musical education at Chungbuk Arts High School under Prof. Jun Yong Choi, before completing his Bachelor's degree at Seoul National University from 2019 to 2025 under Prof. Hong Park Kim and Lee Sergey. Since 2025, he has been continuing his studies as part of a Master's program at the Freiburg University of Music.
During his school and university years, Yonghwan Kim already achieved numerous successes at national competitions in South Korea, including first prizes at the CBS Music Competition (2018) and the KCO National Music Competition (2017), as well as further awards at the Busan MBC Music Competition and the Dong-A Competition. He has also gained international recognition, reaching the first round of the Prague International Competition (2024) and, most recently, the second round of the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition (2026).
As a soloist and chamber musician, Yonghwan Kim has performed with several orchestras, including the Chungbuk Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chungju Youth Philharmonic. He has also regularly appeared in renowned concert halls such as Kumho Art Hall and the IBK Chamber Hall at Seoul Arts Center, both as a soloist and as part of horn ensemble and chamber music projects.
