Sofiya Nikanorava
Sofiya Nikanorava was born in Belarus and began her musical education at the age of six, studying the violin at a music college in Minsk. At the age of seventeen, she redirected her musical focus from violin to viola.
In 2022, she successfully passed the entrance examination at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (HfMDK), where she has since pursued her studies under the tutelage of Anna Krimm. Since the commencement of her studies, she has appeared regularly in solo and chamber music performances.
In recognition of her exceptional achievements, she was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium of the HfMDK Frankfurt in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Since October 2023, she has performed on a viola crafted by patron Philipp Bonhoeffer, generously placed at her disposal through a scholarship.
In September 2024, she was admitted to the Musikförderung Klaus Thimm and received prize money toward the acquisition of a new bow. In February 2025, she performed at a scholarship holders' concert in Göttingen.
From February to July 2025, she held an academist position for the 2024/2025 season at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. Since December 2026, she has been a member of the Hermann Levi Academy of the Bavarian State Orchestra.
