Yuka Oishi

Yuka Oishi was born in Osaka (Japan) and began to dance with the age of three. In 2002 she became a member of the Hamburg Ballet and was promoted as the first female Japanese Soloist of the company. In cooperation with Orkan Dann she choreographed RENKU with the Hamburg Ballet, receiving the Rolf Mares Prize in 2012. Since 2015 she is working as a freelance choreographer and artist for theatres and international festivals all over the world, including works for the Takarazuka Revue in Japan, Bejárt Ballet Lausanne, Origen Festival Cultural Riom in Switzerland, and The World Ballet Festival in Tokyo.

After the premier of Sacré in St. Moritz in 2018 her piece has been performed amongst others at the Theater Carré in Amsterdam, Milano Teatro Arcimboldi, Mariinsky Theatre II, Kosmos Concert Hall in Yekaterinburg, the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre and National Theatre Belgrad. The piece will be performed at À Jour – Contemporary Choreographies with Bayerisches Staatsballett in June 2019.
