Artem Ovcharenko
Principal Dancer, Bolshoi Ballet Moscow
Artem Ovcharenko was born in Ukraine. He started training at the ballet school in Dnepropetrovsk and graduated from from the Moscow Choreographic Academy. Since 2007, he dances with the ensemble of the Bolshoi Ballet Moscow.
His repertoire includes the important classical roles like Romeo, Petrushka, Albrecht (Giselle), Prince Siegfried (Swan Lake), the Nutcracker prince, James (La Sylphide) or Jean de Brienne (Raymonda) as well as soloist parts in neoclassical major works like Balanchine’s Sinfonie in C. For the Bolshoi première of Alexei Ratmsnky’s Illusions perdues he created the part of the 1st ballet dancer.
Ovcharenko was honoured with several prices, among others he is winner of the Tanzolymp Berlin and received the special award 'best partner' at the XI international choreographers’ and dancers’ competition.
In Germany he appeared as Phoebus in La Esmeralda with the Staatsballett Berlin.
