Štěpán Pechar

Štěpán Pechar was born in Malta in 1987. To pursue a career in dance he moved to Prague in 2005, where he graduated from the State Dance Conservatory in 2010. Since finishing his dance studies he has worked for two seasons with the youth dance company Bohemia Ballet, where he also started experimenting in choreography. From 2011 to 2015 he was also member of the dance ensemble of the Laterna magika Company at the New Stage of the National Theatre in Prague and a member of the Prague Chamber Ballet from 2011 to 2012. Throughout 2013 he collaborated with the Lenka Vagnerova & Company. Between 2010 and 2015 Štěpán Pechar also cooperated on numerous projects with 420PEOPLE Contemporary Dance Company. Since 2015 he has been a member of the The Czech National Ballet in Prague.
Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to perform in works of choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Alexander Ekman, Michael Corder, Václav Kuneš, Bubeníček brothers, Emanuel Gat, Petr Zuska, Jan Kodet, Frederick Ashton, Jiří Pokorný or Pavel Šmok, in both soloist and collective roles of various styles.

Apart from his work as interpreter, Štěpán Pechar continues to develop his interest in choreography. He staged several of his works in prestigious venues around the Czech Republic as well as abroad. Since 2015 he is the co-director of the 2nd generation of DEKKADANCERS (www.dekkadancers.net) a Prague based, contemporary dance company, together with Ondřej Vinklát and Marek Svobodník.
He is one of the four young choreographers, who will create a new piece with the Bayerisches Staatsballett for the ballet-evening Young Choreographers 2018.
