Wikharev Sergej
Sergei Vikarev was born in St. Petersburg. Here at the Vaganova Akademy he got trained in the class of Vladilen Semenov to become a dancer. In 1980 he participated fruitfully at the Ballet Contest in Varna. The same year he got engaged at the Mariinski Theatre. In 1985 he won the Ballet Contest in Moscow. The next year he became first soloist at the Mariinski. Here he danced amongst others: James in La Sylphide, Albrecht in Giselle, Prince Désiré in Sleeping Beauty, Orphée in Orphée et Eurydice, Hermann in La Dame de pique, the Pas de trois from Paquita and Harlekin in Carneval. A part of his repertoire formed also the choreographies of Folkin and Balanchine. As a choreographer he worked for the opera houses in Donetsk and Novossibirsk and the Teatro Carlo Felice. For the Mariinski Theatre he created reconstructed versions of Petipa’s Sleepnig Beauty and La Bayadére and of Folkine’s Petrouschka.
