Anoosha Shastry

Choreographer and dancer

Anoosha N Shastry hails from the South Indian city Bengaluru. She is a professional Bharathanatyam dancer with training for over 20 years, holds a Vidwat proficiency, and also a Masters degree in Dance. Besides her artistic work she completed a medical doctor degree in integrated medicine and has studied Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. Since 2019 she is living in Munich and is a founding member of the Association for Indian classical Dance (Klassischer Indischer Tanz Deutschland- KITD e.V). Apart from being a Consultant for Ayurveda and Yoga in Munich, she also trains budding artists in the field of Bharatanatyam under her school Sanatana Akademie e.K in Munich. She completed her artistic education in the dance style Bharathanatyam with distinction and was thereby conferred the title Vidushi. This was followed by her research on the medical front using dance as a catalyst in pain management. Therefore, as a continued passion, she completed her Masters in Bharathanatyam, with the research subject regarding the utility of dance as a therapeutic modality. She was involved in the educational programme for La Bayadère at the Bayerisches Staatsballett and gave workshops on classical Indian dance. She is not only developing the choreography for the participatory dance piece Sakuntala's Ring, but will also be performing as a dancer.
