Martin Steidler

Martin is pianist and conductor, who trained in Regensburg and Vienna. In 2008 he was appointed Professor of Choral Conducting at Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. In this capacity, he leads the university’s renowned Madrigal Choir. In addition, Steidler has been named Director of the University's Department for Music Education in Public Schools in 2025. From 1993 to 2025, he led the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble, which he founded and which is based in Vornbach am Inn near the German-Austrian border. Since 2008, he has been artistic director of the Audi Youth Choir Academy, a group of around 80 singers aged between 16 and 27. With this cross-border choral project, Steidler has released two CDs on the Farao label. He prepared the choir for numerous vocal-symphonic and oratorio projects involving ensembles such as Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Bayerisches Staatsorchester, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, under the overall direction of conductors such as Kent Nagano, Jérémie Rhorer and Patrick Hahn. Guest conducting engagements, as well as his work as a lecturer and jury member, have taken Martin to many European countries, as well as to the USA, Asia and South America.
