Alexey Stychkin

Born in Moscow, the russian-greek violinist Alaexey Stychkin began his studies at the Central Music School for Gifted Children with Galina Tourchaninova and Eduard Grach. He continued his formation in Belgium with Marc Bouchkov at the Liège Royal Conservatory and is currently completing his Master’s degree at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin under Professor Mihaela Martin.
In the 2022–23 season, he was appointed as an academy artist in the first violin section of the Staatskapelle Berlin. Working under Daniel Barenboim, Christian Thielemann, Antonello Manacorda, Lorenzo Viotti, and Zubin Mehta, he further refined his orchestral artistry at the highest level. A notable highlight was leading the orchestra alongside Daniel Barenboim during the Academy’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. That same season, he secured the first-ever open application position on the Classeek Ambassador Programme.
From the 2024–25 season, Alexey was selected by Ivan Fischer to join the newly founded European Orchestra Academy and has since collaborated closely with Maestro Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra in various artistic capacities.
At the beginning of 2026, he made his solo debut at the Berliner Philharmonie, performing three Bach Concertos with the Sinfonisches Kammerorchester Berlin. His earlier solo debut at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory with Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 and the Moscow State Orchestra marked a significant turning point. He has since appeared in Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in Ghent with GUSO Orchestra, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in Moscow with the Russian Philharmonic, and Bach Concertos with Reinhard Goebel and musicians of Villa Musica.
A highly regarded orchestral leader, Alexey has toured extensively as concertmaster with the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, led the Santander Festival Orchestra under Jaime Martín, and served as guest concertmaster with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and Camerata Hamburg.
An active chamber musician, he has collaborated with Kirill Gerstein, Marc Bouchkov, Kian Soltani, Boris Brovtsyn, and Stephan Dohr, among others. Festival appearances include Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Verbier Festival, Samoborska Glazbena Jesen, Erfurt Music Festival, and the Leopold Auer Music Festival. In 2019, he performed for Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
He is a prizewinner of several international competitions, including Third Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians (with a special prize for Best Mozart Performance), Third Prize and Audience Prize at the Henry Vieuxtemps International Violin Competition, the Radio Orpheus Award, and a special prize at the Andreas Postacchini International Competition.
Committed to continual artistic growth, he has worked in masterclasses with Ivry Gitlis, Boris Kushnir, Christoph Poppen, and Viktor Tretyakov, and received mentorship from Mauricio Fuks, Gerhard Schulz, and Pavel Vernikov at the Kronberg Academy’s violin masterclasses.
Alongside his performing career, Alexey is active as a composer, exploring electronic and orchestral genres and creating music for film, brands, and interdisciplinary projects, reflecting a broader artistic vision that extends beyond traditional boundaries. Alexey Stychkin stands as a multifaceted artist, equally compelling as soloist, concertmaster, chamber musician, and creator, developing a distinctive presence on the international stage.
