Kenji Takagi
The freelance dancer, dance educator and choreographer Kenji Takagi was a member of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch ensemble from 2001 to 2008. In 2008, he was awarded the German theatre prize ‘Der Faust’ in the category ‘outstanding dance performance’. Takagi has rehearsed The Rite of Spring for the Pina Bausch Foundation at the Opéra national de Paris, the English National Ballet and the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, among others. He has taught contemporary dance at ImPulsTanz in Vienna, the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris, the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and Movement Research in New York. Currently, Takagi's special interest as a performer and choreographer lies in genre-crossover projects such as his site-specific projects Raumwandlungen and Ortsgespräche or the performance In Another Place, which he created together with the dancer Cristiana Morganti and the cellist Emily Wittbrodt for the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris. Takagi is a member of the inclusive company Pour-Ensemble in Wuppertal.
