Navrin Turnbull

Soloist

Navrin Turnbull, born  in Sydney, Australia started ballet at age 11 in a small ballet school on the Gold Coast, Queensland. At 15 years, he took part in the Prix de Lausanne where he was offered a scholarship to train at the John Cranko Schule, Stuttgart under the direction of Tadeus Matacz. He studied under the guidance of Dimitri Magitov and Nicola Biasutti. After three years in the school, Navrin graduated in 2018 and accepted a contract at the Wiener Staatsballett, Vienna under the direction of Manuel Legris. At the end of his first season, he was promoted to demi-soloist. Navrin has danced the lead diamond in Jewels (Balanchine), Aminta in Sylvia (Legris), Prinz-Florimund-Variation from Sleeping Beauty Act II (Nureyev), Prince’s friend in Swan Lake (Nureyev), Pastorale The Nutcracker (Nureyev), Donizetti-pas de deux (Legris), Mozart à 2 (Malandain), Franz in Coppélia (Lacotte), and the fourth couple Psalmensymphonie (Jirí Kylián). For one season (2020-21) Navrin Turnbull joined the Bayerisches Staatsballet as a soloist.
