Philipp Uta
Philipp Uta was born in Staßfurt (Saxony-Anhalt) in 2001. He received his first tuba lessons at the age of 12 at the local music school with Alexander Erpilev and at the conservatory in Magdeburg with Uwe Petersen. In September 2015, he transferred to the state grammar school ‘Latina August Herrmann Francke’ in Halle (Saale) and attended the music department. There he was taught by Klaus Teufel, former solo tuba player with the Staatskapelle Halle. Philipp successfully took part in the national ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition several times. In 2019 he won the special prize of the German Tuba Forum. Philipp has been studying tuba at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin with Sebastian Wagemann since October 2021. Last season, he was able to gain experience as an academy student at the Komische Oper Berlin. He has also played with various well-known orchestras such as the Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Berlin and regularly with the Staatskapelle Halle. Since this season, he has been an academy member at the Bavarian State Opera.
