Markus Wolf

born in Vienna. In 1987 he became principal concert master of the Vienna Symphony, since 1989 he serves as principal concert master at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. He studied at the Vienna Music Academy with G. Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), receiving his solo diploma with honors in 1983. He continued his studies with M. Rostal, N. Milstein, O. Shumsky and S. Vegh. He has appeared as soloist and chamber musician with Wolfgang Sawallisch, Sir Colin Davis, Zubin Mehta, Marcello Viotti, Philippe Entremont and the Alban Berg Quartet, among others. In 1981 he founded the "Beethoven Trio Vienna", which has given concerts throughout Europe Japan, Mexico, Canada and the United States. From 1983 to 1989 he served as G. Picher's assistant at the Vienna Music Academy. He has given master classes in Germany and Japan. He has also been intensely involved in his activity as guest concert master with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has made a number of CD recordings for EMI, Victor, Camerata, tryptichon and Farao.
