Alexander Zhembrovsky

Alexander Zhembrovsky was born in Kiev in the Ukraine. In 1992 he started his training at the State Ballet School in Kiev. Already as a student he danced in Japan, Canada and Italy when his school guested there. In 2000 he received a prize of the Kiev State Government. In the same year he completed his studies with an honours diploma and joined the company of the Kiev National Opera. In 2001 he became soloist with the Classical Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg. One year later Boris Eifman engaged him as soloist for
his St. Petersburg company. Until 2003 he danced with both companies.
Besides, Alexander Zhembrovsky won prizes at a number of competitions, e.g. in Kiev, Perm, Pieti, Helsinki and Prague. In January 2004 he joined the corps de ballet of the Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich. In Russia he already danced important solo parts e.g. in The Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Paquita, Chopiniana, Coppelia, Don Quixote as well as character roles like the mazurka in Swan Lake, the Hindu dance in La Bayadere or the Spanish dance in Nutcracker.
