150 Years of "Festive Summer" – Celebrated by the 2025 Munich Opera Festival from June 27 to July 31. Within five weeks, the Bayerische Staatsoper presents a richly varied, world-class program featuring 13 opera productions, including two new stagings, performances by the Bayerischen Staatsballetts, song recitals, and numerous concerts by the Bayerisches Staatsorchester. Look forward to appearances by Piotr Beczała, Diana Damrau, Asmik Grigorian, Jonas Kaufmann, Jonatan Tetelman, Lisette Oropesa, and Aylin Pérez, among others.
The anniversary celebration opens at the National Theatre in the heart of Munich with a festive ceremony on June 26, followed by the premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Don Giovanni on June 27. The second new opera production is Gabriel Fauré’s Pénélope at the Prinzregententheater, alongside performances of Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold and Lohengrin, Richard Strauss’ Die Liebe der Danae, Gaetano Donizetti’s La Fille du régiment, and Leoš Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová.
