ANTÓNIO CASALINHO NEW PRINCIPAL DANCER

The Bayerisches Staatsballett has a new Principal Dancer: Following the performance of La Sylphide on Friday, November 29, 2024, Ballet Director Laurent Hilaire appointed António Casalinho as Principal Dancer. The 21-year-old Portuguese dancer has been with the Bayerisches Staatsballett since 2019, and in 2023 he became the youngest soloist in the history of the Munich ensemble at just 19 years old.

Last Friday, he debuted in the role of James, the male lead in La Sylphide. After his performance, Laurent Hilaire announced his promotion to the applauding dancers backstage.
