For a long time the pandemic made it impossible to go on tour at all but now it is finally possible to resume the touring programme, and in early July 2022 the Bayerisches Staatsballett will be travelling to Catalonia at the invitation of the Festival Internacional de Música Castell de Peralada. The company will be presenting two mixed programmes featuring works from its current season at two performances on Friday 8 July and Saturday 9 July 2022 on an open-air stage in the grounds of Peralada Castle.
The two programmes are Caminos y Horizontes and Los colores del Alma and showcase contemporary works from the current repertory choreographed by Liam Scarlett, Sharon Eyal, David Dawson and Alexei Ratmansky. Each evening will also include a performance of George Balanchine’s Rubies from his three-part ballet Jewels.

“I am delighted that within only a few months of my appointment I am able to travel with the company to Spain”, says ballet director Laurent Hilaire. “The programme has been specially put together and comprises contemporary and neoclassical works that are admirably suited to the relaxed atmosphere of a festival that embraces so many different kinds of culture. And I am delighted that the dancers of the Bayerisches Staatsballett will have a chance to show off their abilities on this beautiful stage.”
The Peralada Festival is a festival of classical music that is held every summer at Peralada Castle, where it offers a broad range of concerts, exhibitions, dance performances and operas. It is the first time that the Bayerisches Staatsballett has been invited to Peralada.
Requests for press tickets should be addressed to the Press Office and will be forwarded directly to the promoter. Photographic material will be available for download from our website following the performances.
