SONG Recitals 2025–26
The Bayerische Staatsoper has been inviting singers to its lieder recitals for several decades now. The festival period is also recital time here with us. Most of the vocal interpreters, who embody opera roles in the Nationaltheater, are also very much in their element with Kunstlieder (art songs), in which the human voice is expressed musically. In the coming season we can look forward to welcoming a whole host of outstanding singers in this field to the Bayerische Staatsoper. Christian Gerhaher can be enjoyed twice no less in the 2025–2026 season, as always with pianist Gerold Huber at his side – once in the Nationaltheater with Schubert’s Winterreise, and once with a special project in the Cuvilliés Theatre, where he will interpret Othmar Schoeck’s Elegie based on poems by Nikolaus Lenau and Joseph von Eichendorff. Ludovic Tézier is, as most recently with the 2025 Munich Opera Festival, our guest in the Prinzregententheater, where Joyce DiDonato and her pianist Craig Terry will also performer as our guests. Diana Damrau presents her current recital programme in the Nationaltheater, and Jonas Kaufmann also returns with his loyal recital companion, Helmut Deutsch. Spread over the season, the Opera Studio’s portrait concerts, in which its young members present themselves with diverse programmes, also enrich the Bayerische Staatsoper’s recital offering.
