Special Concerts
If the Academy Concerts are the Bayerische Staatsoper's freestyle and the Chamber Concerts its little sister, then the Special Concerts are the crowning glory. Opera for all, this catchphrase coined by Sir Peter Jonas, has now set a precedent: once every season, in the open air and with free admission, the orchestra plays a festive program for anyone who wants to come (and is there on time). But there are also special ventures on a smaller scale: Night concerts light up eyes and ears at late hours, and especially during the festival season, there are always unusual occasions for making music.
