The music theatre and drama director Franziska Angerer was first a dancer and later studied directing at the August Everding Theatre Academy. Since then, she has been interested in developing alternative narrative forms for music theatre. She has directed productions at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Residenztheater Munich, the Landestheater Tübingen and the SPIELART Theatre Festival in Munich. For directing DICHTERLIEBE at the Staatstheater Darmstadt in 2021, she was awarded the Dr.-Otto-Kasten Prize from the German Stage Association and an honourable mention from the Götz Friedrich Prize. In addition to the production The Fish Who Found the Sea at the Bayerische Staatsoper, her music theatre production BÄR*IN in collaboration with composer Arne Gieshoff and dramaturg Carolin Müller-Dohle will have its world premiere at the Tischlerei in the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the 2022-23 season. She will also direct the symphonie THE PRISON by composer Ethel Smyth at the Staatstheater Darmstadt this season.
