Niels Lanz

Niels joined the sound department of Ballet Frankfurt in 1993, where he had the opportunity to further develop his skills under the artistic direction of William Forsythe in many productions such as Eidos:Telos, Endless House, Kammer/Kammer and Decreation. At the end of the 1990s, he began producing his own electronic music, including the music for David Dawson's pieces The Grey Area and 00:00 for the Dutch National Ballet. From 2005 to 2011, Niels Lanz was head of the sound and video department at The Forsythe Company, where he won the prestigious New York Bessie Award in 2007 for the composition of Three Atmospheric Studies.
Since 2012, he has been working as a freelance sound designer, master of event technology and project manager for various productions, including the Avignon Festival, La Biennale di Venezia, Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Ruhrtriennale and the ZKM in Karlsruhe.
