Kristen McGarrity
Stager
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Kristen Jane McGarrity trained at The Royal Ballet School (RBS) before graduating into Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB). There, she danced most of the company’s soloist repertoire, including notable roles in Agon, In the Upper Room, Pineapple Poll, Pulcinella, Shakespeare Suite, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Take Five. After leaving BRB she completed her BSc Honours degree in Psychology and her RBS teaching diploma with distinction, whilst touring the UK and Europe as a singer/songwriter/musician. Other performance work includes Fallen Angels Dance Theatre, working with recovering addicts through the medium of dance and performance, as well as playing the role of ‘Lise Dassin’ in Christopher Wheeldon’s An American in Paris (London West End , Asia and Paris tours). Kristen has dance and acting credits in films An American in Paris: The Musical (Returning Soldier/Ensemble), Disney’s The Nutcracker and The Four Realms (Ballroom Ballerina) and Annihilation (Lena Double). Her Assistant Choreographer, Staging and Coaching work includes Swan Lake and Frankenstein (The Royal Ballet), Vespertine (Joffrey Ballet), The Cunning Little Vixen, The Nutcracker, Raven Girl (The Royal Ballet School) and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms film. Kristen has guest taught at the UK’s top vocational schools, namely, RBS, Elmhurst School for Dance and Urdang Academy, and most recently, mentored the ladies of English National Ballet School’s graduate year of 2020. Kristen is currently guest teaching at Scottish Ballet and staging Liam Scarlett’s With a Chance of Rain in Munich.
