Dimo Milev

Dimo began his training at the National Ballet School in his native city of Sofia, Bulgaria. In 1993 he joined the ballet ensemble of the Sofia Opera House, a year later the Jeune Ballet de France and finally in 1996 the Ballet de Lorraine in Nancy, where he remained until 2001. From 2001 to 2009, he danced with the Compañia Nacional de Danza (CND) in Madrid. Since 2009, Dimo works as a freelancer. Together with his CND colleague Gentian Doda, he created the two pieces S.O.S and 1/2 Waltz in 2011. The latter won the choreography competitions in Copenhagen and Hanover in 2011. In addition, Dimo's work Aimless was awarded first prize at the Certamen Internacional de Coreografía Burgos-Nueva York in July 2013. Dimo subsequently received invitations to the T.H.E Dance Company in Singapore (Collisions/2013, Perhaps someone.../2017) and the Madrid en Danza festival (Entre mares/2014, Broken lines/2017). In 2016 he returned to the CND, where he was invited by José Carlos Martínez to create the piece Anhelos y tormentos to music by Enric Granados.
In 2019, Dimo was accepted into the “Up & Coming Choreographers” program by Nederlands Dans Theater 2 (NDT2), which resulted in the piece Arpeggios, flowers and some manoeuvers. In November 2020, the digital premiere of his piece Fusions and some confusions took place in the main program of NDT 2. In 2022, Dimo worked with LANDERER&COMPANY for the first time and created the HOW FAR IS HERE / HOW LONG IS NOW double billtogether with Felix Landerer. In March 2024, the collaboration with LANDERER&COMPANY continued, this time with Dimo being in charge of a full-length production entitled Undercurrents. In Fragments is Dimo’s first choreography for Bayerisches Staatsballett.
